The One Armed Bandit Slot Machine
Try Yggdrasil Slots
You probably know that in the past, slot machines were called one-armed bandits, due to the handle on the side that you had to pull in order to spin the reels. With that reference in mind, Yggdrasil has designed The One Armed Bandit slot, but with a twist. The ‘bandit’ part of the title refers to the main character in the slot, the Wild Wild West outlaw which will immensely help you out throughout the game.
There are no regular Wilds available in the slot, but you will benefit from the special symbols included. The Scattered Bandit, for instance, will help you trigger the Respin feature. This is when a Silver Star will appear on top of the reel where the Bandit landed and you get one Respin. For the duration of the Respin, the Scatters marked with the Silver Star are substituted with a 5x Multiplier Wild. This may actually cause a chain reaction. If you land a Scatter on reels 2 and 4, you are in for two Respins and two Multiplier Wilds, and if during the Respins you land another Wild, you get another Respin and Multiplier Wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4, for instance.
Before you run out of Respins, if you manage to collect all 5 Stars, you trigger 10 Free Spins. If you have unused Respins from the base game, they are transferred here and count as extra Free Spins, up to 14. The starting Wild Multiplier in the Free Spins is 5x, should it appear on the reels.
During the bonus game, if you see the Bandit appear, you get 1 Free Spin and you will see the Multiplier going 1 step forward on the meter. With 2 or 4 of them, the Multiplier Wild can go up to 10x or 20x, respectively. After you achieve the 20x Wild Multiplier, the maximum one, with any new Bandit that lands, you get 1 extra Free Spin. This when you get the chance of landing a win of up to 2,000x the stake, on a single payline!
Theme & Design
Yggdrasil never copies other developers’ work when it comes to visuals, not even when the widely-used Wild Wild West theme is in question. When you load the game, you are taken to a seemingly calm place in the middle of nowhere, where the wooden reels are placed in the centre. They look like the back of a saloon, with the porch and all.
While we cannot see exactly, as only his head can be seen as a symbol, the Bandit does not really have only one arm, because that would be wicked and weird in a slot, so probably the title was only used in reference to the old term for slot machines. The Bandit is, nevertheless, the most important symbol, as it triggers the key features in the slot. The Sheriff’s Golden Star is the Multiplier Wild, and the highest-paying symbol is the Revolver. The Flask is the next best paying symbol, followed by the Cowboy Hat and the Metal Spur. Unfittingly to the theme, you will see the playing card suits as the lowest-paying symbols.
Wagering & Paylines
There are 20 fixed paylines in The One Armed Bandit slot and a betting range that starts at $0.10 and goes no more than $40.00. The RTP is as you would expect, the average 96.30%.
For the max bet, you get $3,200.00 for the highest-paying Revolver symbol. The Flask gives you $2,400.00 for a 5-of-a-kind combo, the Hat $1,400.00, and the Metal Spur $800.00. However, the game can actually deliver 160,000 coins or $80,000.00 on a single line! Who knows what the max payout could be, considering the 20 paylines present.
The One Armed Bandit is, as expected, a wonderful title by Yggdrasil. It has all the ingredients needed to qualify for a perfect slot. We all love the Wild Wild West theme, we just feel wilder when we’re playing slots with revolvers, cowboy hats and outlaws. But what’s most appealing in this particular slot is the 160,000 coins payout per line. This means that a staggering potential is offered in the slot, a ‘wanted’ one, any slots player would appreciate!
